Weekly Financial Oversight: Accurately categorize bank feeds and manage reconciliations.
Month-End Excellence:
- Conduct monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Clear Accounts Payable weekly
- Produce comprehensive financial statements and reports
- Prepare and file monthly Sales Tax returns
Quarterly Reviews: Evaluate books for potential 1099 filings and prepare quarterly tax projects.
Client Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with US clients
- Assist the Accounting and Tax Manager with clear and effective communication
New Client Onboarding for Senior Roles: Play a key role in seamlessly integrating new clients into our clients' systems.
Ad-hoc Support: Manage special client requests efficiently as they arise.
Monthly Sales Tax Filings: Compile and File relevant Sales Tax reports for all of your clients (a valuable skillset in the United States).
Pathway to U.S. Tax Work: After establishing a solid foundation in accounting and demonstrating strong technical accuracy, you’ll transition into hands-on involvement with U.S. tax work. This is your entry point into one of the most in-demand, globally transferable, and financially lucrative areas of the accounting profession—building expertise that sets you apart in the accounting market.
Studies:
- BCom in Accounting is preferred, with a priority given to graduates from Stellenbosch, UCT, University of Pretoria, North-West, Wits or Akademia.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience, including articles, is required.
Professional Credentials: Professional Designations Preferred
Flexibility:
- Comfortable working non-standard US hours (until 11 PM on weeknights)
- Weekend work during busy season
- Open to international travel as required
Adaptable & Eager to Learn: Enthusiastic about acquiring expertise in US tax systems, with any prior experience in compiling US Tax Returns considered a significant advantage.
Communication Skills: Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a virtual setting.
