Salary / CTC: R 10 000 – R 30 000 (depending on current earnings, qualifications and experience)

Job Summary:

The Medical Equipment Technician is responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of medical equipment to ensure optimal functionality and minimal downtime in healthcare facilities. The role includes technical support, equipment troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and repairs on medical equipment in hospitals and clinics.
  2. Diagnose technical faults and implement corrective solutions to minimize downtime.
  3. Utilize advanced hospital maintenance software for efficient tracking and servicing.
  4. Ensure all equipment complies with SAHPRA regulations and ISO certification requirements.


  1. Provide rapid response technical support to healthcare facilities.
  2. Offer expert guidance to hospital staff on equipment usage and troubleshooting.
  3. Maintain accurate service records and documentation of all repairs and maintenance performed.
  4. Coordinate loan unit equipment provisions to prevent operational disruptions.


  1. Assist in seamless hospital setup solutions, from planning to final inspection.
  2. Ensure proper installation, configuration, and testing of new medical equipment.
  3. Work closely with engineering teams to optimise hospital maintenance strategies.


  1. Adhere to industry regulations and company compliance standards (SAHPRA, ISO, B-BBEE).
  2. Ensure all maintenance activities meet safety and quality control protocols.
  3. Participate in regular audits and risk assessments to uphold high operational standards.


  1. Provide full-time technical support at hospitals where the company has maintenance contracts.
  2. Collaborate with clinical engineering teams to improve efficiency and reliability.
  3. Maintain stock levels of essential spare parts and equipment.

  1. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  2. Excellent understanding of medical equipment maintenance and repair
  3. Ability to use hospital maintenance software effectively
  4. Knowledge of SAHPRA, ISO, and healthcare regulatory compliance
  5. Strong communication and customer service skills
  6. Ability to work under pressure and respond rapidly to service requests
  7. Attention to detail and documentation accuracy


  1. Minimum Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Technology, or related field
  2. Experience: 3-5 years in medical equipment maintenance and support
  3. Certifications: SAHPRA registration (preferred), ISO compliance experience, OEM training (advantageous)


  1. Willingness to travel, valid driver’s license
