We are hiring a skilled and detail-oriented Tender Engineer for our esteemed water treatment client in Cape Town (Muizenberg), offering an opportunity to play a pivotal role in securing new business. This key position within the Costings & Proposals team is essential for driving success in a fabrication, manufacturing, and product supply environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and proven experience in tender preparation and submission. Responsibilities include managing the entire tender process, from identifying opportunities to cost estimation and bid formulation, ensuring competitive and compliant submissions. A keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret technical specifications into comprehensive bills of quantities are essential for success in this role.



Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and evaluate potential tender opportunities within the water treatment sector.
  2. Review and interpret the tender document.
  3. Ensure compliance with all tender requirements and deadlines.
  4. Develop technical proposals and methodologies.
  5. Formulate costings and costing templates / BOQ based on technical information and plant assessments.
  6. Obtain required quotations and specifications to populate costings and BOQs.
  7. Liaise with relevant internal departments to obtain required information to ensure costing accuracy and component specifications.
  8. Research equipment and product specifications and pricing for plant/system optimization.
  9. Contribute to the development and improvement of tender processes and templates.
  10. Create a costing and specification library.
  11. Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required.


Vereistes

Qualification and Skills Requirements

  1. Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Quantity Surveying diploma (or related field)
  2. 3-4 years of relevant experience in the water treatment industry
  3. Strong computer literacy, proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  6. Proficiency in both English and Afrikaans
  7. Additional languages are a plus
  8. Experience in manufacturing and fabrication environment is a plus
